SALARY: $26,000 - Annually

REPORTS TO: Superintendent or Designee

NATURE OF WORK:
The employee will support K-12 COVID-19 testing program activities. Provides COVID-19 support and response in schools. Provides and supports other school health program activities that foster healthy students, in school and being ready to learn in conjunction with assigned School Nurse.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant for the state of North Carolina
- CPR Certified.
- Attend training as designated by the School Health Supervisor or Designee
- Good communication skills and computer proficient
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with team members
- Demonstrate willingness and competence in assigned and delegated tasks.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK
- May function as school level COVID-19 designated contact when trained in collaboration with RN School Nurse.
- Follow Strong Schools NC K-12 Toolkit, Robeson County Health Department, and our local LEA guidelines for handling
suspected, presumptive, or confirmed positive cases of COVID-19.
- Provide support and information for school level monitoring of symptom positive students and staff in quarantine,
recovery, and return.
- Contact RN to report any students presenting with clinically compatible COVID-19 symptoms in students, staff, and
teachers with chronic health condition history.
- Collaborate with RN School Nurse in assuring local health department notification for positive cases in school and
implement contact tracing plan as assigned.
- Provide administrative support for the RN related to ongoing education for students, staff and families related to
COVID-19, pandemic response, infection control measures, testing, COVID-19 vaccine, and mitigation strategies.
- Complete assigned tasks per training and protocol under supervision of school nurse.
- Administer ordered medications as directed by RN per local policy. Report student response and/or concerns to the
school nurse.
- Provide help in a limited manner for students with illness or injury.
- Maintain security of school health supplies and equipment.
- Perform student screening per policy, if trained.
- Reports concerns to School Nurse or other school level individuals.
- Collect, organize, and maintain relevant school health and safety issue data.
- CNA’s receive various trainings (eg. administer medication) from School Nurses only and completes assigned tasks
based on training but cannot reciprocate that training for others.
