POSITION: Teacher Assistant

SALARY:   GRADE 56:  $2,785.12 monthly – Starting Salary

WORK LOCATION:                 Shining Stars Preschool

EMPLOYMENT:     10 months

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Valid North Carolina driver’s license
• Completion of 2-year Early Childhood Degree (Official Transcript Required)
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
• Availability and willingness to work extended hours
• Above average interpersonal skills

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains general knowledge of computers, equipment, and related technology devices.
• Communicates effectively with staff and students and encourages parental involvement.
• Utilizes computers to prepare and maintain various files and records.
• Provides instructional assistance to include the planning, facilitation, and implementation of individual and group activities designed to encourage the social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive development of children.
• Assists with classroom management and supervision.
• Adheres to policies and procedures as set forth by the Division of Child Development and Early Education.
• Initiates and replies to inquiries or requests via phone or electronic mail.
• Assists the teacher in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
• Performs basic clerical and record-keeping duties.
• Participates collaboratively and professionally to promote high quality care and education for each child.
• Assists with cleaning and disinfecting of classroom equipment and materials.
• Participates in staff development, as required.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
